Most lessons in life are learned the hard way.

But one lesson I've learned purely through the application of intellect, if you will, is that you should not walk up stairs with your hands in your pockets.

The problem is, I usually only remember the lesson by the time I'm on the second or third step. I worry that because the lesson hasn't been learned the hard way, I'll be on the stairs one day, be lazy and think "nah", and end up losing my front teeth.
